Edam originated in Holland over 800 years ago, with its cousin gouda. Cheesemakers originally shaped it into balls to roll down the gangplanks of ships for export.

Results: American Cheese Society Judging & Competition
An all-time high, the American Cheese Society received 2,024 entries for this year’s competition. Of those two-thousand, only 411 walked away with a first, second or third place award.

Saxon Creamery Wins at American Cheese Society 2016
Saxon Creamery, who are a part of Lake Forest Artisan Cheese, were well represented at the 2016 American Cheese Society as this year they received ribbons in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. With 260 cheese makers submitting 1,843 products, this was one of the hardest contests to judge.
